Thule: One Car, Thousands of Possibilities
One car. Thousands of possibilities.
Your car can do a lot more than the school run. With the right setup, it can carry extra luggage, camping gear, bikes and bulky equipment without needing to change the vehicle itself.
At Roof Boxed, that’s what we help people do every day: find the right Thule equipment for the car they already own and the trips they want to take.
Thule — Bring Your Gear
Rear-Mounted Storage: Extra Space Without Using the Roof - Fits Directly onto your Towball
If you’d rather keep the roof free, or simply want something that’s easier to load, Thule offers several different ways to add useful storage space behind the car.
From hard-shell cargo boxes to flexible solutions that work with an existing bike carrier, there’s an option for everything from family holidays and camping trips to golf bags, pushchairs and everyday extra luggage.
Thule Arcos: M, L & XL
The Thule Arcos range gives you secure, hard-shell storage mounted directly behind the vehicle. Because the box sits low to the ground, it’s much easier to load than a conventional roof box, while leaving the roof completely free for bikes, a roof tent or other equipment.
The Arcos is available in different sizes, including Arcos M, Arcos L and Arcos XL, so you can choose the amount of space that best suits the way you travel.

Thule Santu
If you already own a Thule Easyfold XT, Easyfold 3 Or Epos Thule bike carrier, the Thule Santu gives you another way to turn the rear of the car into useful storage space.
Santu is a hard-shell cargo box designed to work with compatible Thule EasyFold and Epos carriers. That makes it a useful option if you want one system that can switch between carrying bikes and carrying luggage, rather than having completely separate setups.

Thule Onto 2
For something lighter and easier to store when it isn’t being used, the Thule Onto 2 is a practical alternative.
It gives you 300 litres of rear-mounted storage and attaches directly to the towbar. Its low position makes loading straightforward, while the foldable design makes it easier to store away at home.

Thule Onto 2 for EasyFold 3
If you already own a Thule EasyFold 3, there’s also a version of the Onto 2 designed specifically to work with that carrier.
The Thule Onto 2 for EasyFold 3 adds 300 litres of useful luggage space at the rear of the vehicle, giving your bike carrier another job when you aren’t transporting bikes.
It’s a neat option if you want to get more use from equipment you already own without adding another completely separate rear-mounted platform.

Which option works best really depends on how you travel. If you want a solid, premium cargo box with plenty of capacity, the Arcos range is a great choice. If you already have a compatible bike carrier, Santu or Onto 2 for EasyFold 3 can help you get more use from the equipment you already own. And if easy storage at home matters, the foldable Onto 2 is worth considering.
Whichever route you take, the main benefit is the same: more luggage space without filling the car or using up valuable roof space.
Thule Motion 3: Make Better Use of Your Roof
For family holidays, road trips and weekends away, a roof box is still one of the easiest ways to add a serious amount of luggage space.
The Thule Motion 3 range combines generous storage with a streamlined shape, PowerClick mounting and Thule's SlideLock locking system.
Roof Boxed offers the Motion 3 in a range of sizes, including the 400-litre Motion 3 M, 450-litre Motion 3 L and larger XL models, so you can choose the size that best suits your car and the amount of gear you normally carry.

A roof box doesn’t have to work on its own either. It can be combined with other carrying solutions, which is where the flexibility of the Thule range really comes into its own.
Thule Caprock: Turn the Roof into a Platform
Sometimes a normal roof box isn’t quite flexible enough for what you want to carry.
The Thule Caprock roof platform gives you a wide, sturdy base for larger items, unusual loads and a whole range of accessories.
Built-in T-slots make it easy to attach compatible Thule products and accessories, so Caprock works particularly well for camping gear, overlanding equipment and rooftop-tent setups.

It’s a useful choice if what you carry changes from one trip to the next — bikes one weekend, camping kit the next, and something completely different after that.
Bring the Bikes Too
The final part of the video shows another simple way to make the same car work for a completely different day out: load the bikes onto the roof and head for the trails.

Roof Boxed stocks a wide selection of Thule roof-mounted bike carriers, including the ProRide, FreeRide, TopRide and UpRide ranges.

One especially handy option is the Thule UpRide 599. It holds the bike securely without gripping the frame, which makes it a good choice for bikes where protecting the frame is a priority.
Prefer to Keep the Bikes Off the Roof?
If you’re carrying heavier bikes, e-bikes, or simply want to make loading easier, a towbar-mounted bike carrier may suit you better.
Roof Boxed stocks a range of Thule towball-mounted carriers, with options for different numbers of bikes and different riding setups.

And once again, it’s all about flexibility. One weekend your towbar might be carrying the bikes; on the next trip, the same space could be used for an Arcos cargo box.
Start with the Right Foundation
Most roof-mounted Thule setups start with one essential piece of equipment: the right roof bars for your vehicle.
The correct bars and fitting system depend on your car, the type of roof it has and what you plan to carry. Getting that part right first makes everything else much easier.
Roof Boxed supplies Thule systems for cars, SUVs and vans, including WingBar Evo, WingBar Edge and SquareBar configurations.

Which Thule Setup Is Right for You?
It really comes down to what you want your car to do.
- Need more luggage space without lifting everything onto the roof? Consider Thule Arcos.
- Planning a family holiday and want as much storage as possible? A Thule Motion 3 roof box could be ideal.
- Want a flexible base for camping equipment or awkward, oversized gear? Take a look at Thule Caprock.
- Taking the bikes? You can choose between roof-mounted or towbar-mounted Thule bike carriers.
And you don’t necessarily have to choose just one. Many of these solutions can be used together to create a setup that works around the way you travel.
That’s really what the video gets across.
One car. Thousands of possibilities.
